About SOARS Ministry

With God’s inspiration and guidance, and the support and encouragement of Greenwood Baptist Church, Weatherford, TX, SOARS Ministry was founded in 2021 with a desire to come alongside college rodeo students with genuine friendship, encouragement, and Christ-centered support.

Being involved in the rodeo community, we recognized that many students are balancing college, competition, work, travel, relationships, and the challenges of everyday life. While rodeo and education develops strength, discipline, and perseverance, everyone needs people who will walk beside them through both victories and struggles.

SOARS Ministry was created to be that support network.

The name SOARS (Supporting Our Area Rodeo Students) is inspired by Isaiah 40:30-31:

“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will SOAR on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary; They will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 30-31 (NLT)

Our desire is simple: to build relationships, encourage faith in the LORD, provide practical support, and demonstrate the love of Christ through everyday acts of service. And we are blessed with the freedom to do all of this while also promoting our great western heritage and culture.

Whether sharing a meal, offering encouragement, weekly Bible studies, attending a rodeo, praying with someone, or simply being available when needed, we believe lives are impacted when people know they are cared for with the sincere love of Christ.  Rodeo students are also matched with SOARS Families who provide “home away from home” support, friendship, fellowship, guidance, assistance, prayers, etc. throughout their academic journey.

What began as a small ministry effort continued to grow, and in 2026 SOARS Ministry received recognition as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Today, SOARS Ministry is led by a dedicated team of volunteers and board members committed to serving college students, their friends and colleagues, as well as others in the rodeo and agriculture community through Christ-centered relationships, encouragement, and practical support. We are excited to continue to show God’s love in a practical way with the support of our local churches and community.
